The app for strip cropping
Mosaik Farming is the app and web application we use at HofLabor to plan and document our strip cropping — planning crop sets across the strips, logging machine operations out in the field.
Development status
Not publicly available yet
Mosaik Farming is being built in day-to-day operation: we develop it on our own fields and with a small number of farms working closely with us. That way we know it holds up in the field before we open it up more widely.
Closed testing
Access is currently by personal invitation only. You cannot create an account yourself.
App Store in preparation
We are preparing the release. Even once it is published, the app stays limited to invited farms for the time being.
No fixed date
We are deliberately not naming a date for open availability. If you register, you will hear from us as soon as that changes.
Features
Built for strip cropping, not adapted to it
Conventional arable software thinks in fields. Strip cropping thinks in many narrow strips, each carrying something different, on the same piece of land. That is what Mosaik Farming is made for.
Crop & set planning
Plan crop sets across the strips
Plan which crop sits on which strip and when — set by set, across the season. Instead of one area per crop you see the whole mosaic: what sits next to what, what follows what, and where there is still room.
- Assign sets and crops to individual strips
- Keep an overview of strip occupancy across the season
- Check rotations and neighbouring crops at a glance
- Plan at the desk, access it in the field
Machine operations
Log it while the machine is still standing there
Record which machine went over which strip, and when. Logging happens where the work happens — in the field, on the phone, in a few taps. So what is documented is what actually happened, not what someone remembers in the evening.
- Log operations per strip and per crop
- Capture machine, operation and time
- See what has already been done on a given area
- A basis for analysis and record-keeping
App and web app
On the phone for work in the field, in the browser for planning at the desk — the same data, the same structure.
Born out of practice
Developed at HofLabor on over 60 ha in Mönchaltorf and on the Adlisberg — and in daily use there.

A look at the current test version. The interface is still changing — what you see here is a snapshot, not a finished product.
Register interest
Join as a test farm
You grow in strips — or want to start — and would like to try Mosaik Farming on your farm? Put your name down. We hand out tester slots in small steps and will get in touch as soon as one opens up.
We will also let you know when the app reaches the App Store and when it opens up beyond closed testing.
What this means
Registering is not the same as getting access. We look at every registration and reply personally — including when it is not a fit right now.

Frequently asked
Answered briefly
Can I download the app already?
Not yet. The App Store release is in preparation. Even after that, access stays limited to invited farms for the time being.
When will it be available to everyone?
We are deliberately not naming a date. We will only open the app up more widely once it runs reliably in daily operation — and that will take a while yet.
What does Mosaik Farming cost?
For test farms, use is free during the testing phase. What happens afterwards is something we will decide together with the farms testing alongside us.
Who is behind the app?
HofLabor, a Swiss on-farm innovation project for regenerative mosaic farming in Mönchaltorf and on the Adlisberg (Zurich). Mosaik Farming grew out of our own practice.
What happens to my data?
We use the details from the registration form solely to contact you about Mosaik Farming. How we handle data is set out in the privacy policy.
